1. About these terms

Welcome to Docs Recava ("we", "us", "our"). These Terms govern your use of the Docs Recava Service. By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

2. What Docs Recava does

We help you track documents and expiry dates, receive reminders, report documents as lost, connect anonymously with finders, and access informational replacement guides.

3. What Docs Recava does NOT do

We are not a government agency, law enforcement body, document issuer, legal advisor, or guarantor of document recovery. We connect people. We do not guarantee that a lost document will be returned.

4. Your account

You must be at least 18 years old, or have legal guardian consent. You agree to provide accurate information, keep your password secure, and use the Service lawfully.

5. Documents and reference numbers

We normalize document reference numbers and store a cryptographic hash. We never store the raw number in public-facing indexes. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to store any document number you enter.

6. Lost document reports

When you report a document lost, we generate a public finder code and may display limited information publicly (document type, general location, reward, public note). We never publicly display your full name, phone number, email address, physical address, or document number.

7. Finder submissions

If you report finding a document, you confirm you have lawful possession, agree to return it to its rightful owner if requested, agree not to demand payment beyond any reward offered, and understand the owner may not respond.

8. Anonymous chat

Messages are stored and may be reviewed for abuse investigation. Do not share personal contact information unless ready. We recommend meeting in public places.

9. Prohibited uses

You may not submit false reports, harass or extort other users, attempt to identify anonymous users, use the Service for fraud, scrape or overload the Service, impersonate authorities, or upload malicious content. Violation may result in immediate account termination and reporting to authorities.

10. Police reports

For official documents (National ID, passport, driving licence, logbook), you must also file a police report through official channels. Docs Recava supplements but does not replace official reporting.

11. Replacement guides

Replacement guides are informational only. Always verify with the relevant government authority before acting.

12. Data protection

We process your data under the Kenya Data Protection Act 2019. See our Privacy Policy.

13. Fees

The basic Service is free. Paid tiers may be offered. All fees are shown before purchase.

14. Availability

We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may perform maintenance at any time.

15. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Docs Recava is provided "as is". We are not liable for failure to recover a document, actions of other users, or indirect damages. Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

16. Termination

You may delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your account for violation of these Terms, fraud, abuse, or legal requirement.

17. Changes

We may update these Terms. Material changes will be notified by email or in-app.

18. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Kenya. Disputes will be resolved in Kenyan courts.
